The list of the countries and territories ranked by area. The list includes sovereign states, inhabited dependent territories and, in some cases, constituent countries of sovereign states and states with limited recognition.

There are some disputed data in this list about including unrecognised states in the countries that claim the territory. All dependent territories or constituent countries that are parts of sovereign states are not assigned a numbered rank.
